How you'll make a difference

As a Senior Project Manager in an expanding team, you will make a difference by delivering transformational change to transport in South Gloucestershire. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of active travel and public transport infrastructure projects in the district. Through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement, South Gloucestershire has secured £100m in funding to decarbonise transport, promote a shift from cars to public transport, walking and cycling and drive growth and productivity through investment in infrastructure.

A hybrid working model is in place: the team have flexible working arrangements where you can work from home, with occasional office based working as required, or can be office based, depending on your personal preference.

What will you be doing

•You will manage and motivate professionals and staff from various teams to deliver projects to time and budget.  
•On a daily basis you will provide expert advice to customers, councillors, senior managers and stakeholders on issues, risks and project progress.
•A key part of the role will be producing reports and analysing complex data so that our customers receive accurate, up to date reports and data. You will set targets, monitoring performance and reviewing potential changes to systems to ensure services and projects are delivered successfully
•Working closely with suppliers and partners you will negotiate and manage projects that meet business needs and service standards and will be in consultation with customers, providing training and information sessions so understanding of the area of expertise is enhanced
•You will maintain high quality and a consistent service to customers, ensuring that agreed standards are achieved across a wide range of services and Service Level Agreements, also taking ownership for responding and resolving queries, complaints and requests from the customer
•It will be your responsibility to review and resolve any issues relating to budgets, financial information and resources for your projects, so that agreed targets are met, reports are prepared and delivered, there is efficient use of Council resources, data is managed effectively and corrective action is taken when necessary and value for money is maximised.

What we need from you

•It is essential that you have experience of working in an operational or service delivery role, with evidenced experience in project management and IT relevant to Strategic Projects.
•You must be educated to degree level or equivalent and hold the APM’s ‘Project Management’ qualification or equivalent and have the capability to use and apply the APM methodologies both accurately and effectively.
•We require you to demonstrate Continuous Professional Development in order to keep abreast of changes in working practice and legislation.  
•You must be experienced in planning, managing and delivering projects within budget and to programme with the ability to analyse, prioritise and organise project programmes to meet deadlines.
•You will be experienced in working closely with other partners to agree delivery of cross-boundary schemes and work with Elected Members, stakeholder groups, local communities and voluntary organisations to achieve mutually supportive objectives.  
•It is essential that you have the ability to problem solve in a multi-agency context, taking account of corporate policies and political impact in making decisions to provide sound expertise, advice and information to a range of customers throughout the Council.
