Within the Atkins Transportation Business, we embrace all aspects of rail and highways telecommunications systems design. For rail this involves fixed lineside telecommunications for train operations, train radio communications and station information and security systems. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual wishing to develop their career in Rail Telecommunications Engineering who, with the appropriate level of supervision, will create telecommunications engineering designs for a variety of multi-disciplinary engineering projects.

We currently have an opportunity within our Transportation Design office in Glasgow, commencing autumn 2017.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning of and take part in lineside and station infrastructure surveys and to document and report survey findings
• Contribute to the delivery of engineering designs and to report on design progress and escalate problems, working within defined budgets and time constraints
• Assist with preparation of technical reports, specifications and tender documents
• Produce Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings using Microstation / Autocad

Requirements

• Degree qualification in electrical/electronic engineering or related discipline (or equivalent)
• Confident user of Microsoft Office Packages (Word, Excel)
• Two years’ experience working in a similar role previously
• Experience using CAD packages would be an advantage, but not essential
• A Team player, who is able to show initiative and work independently when required
• Excellent communications skills
• Willing to travel and work at various locations within the UK, which may include unsocial hours on an occasional basis.
