Salary: Grades E-H (£21,276 - £36,372 per annum)

Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time - part-time working arrangements will be considered

The London boroughs of Kingston and Sutton have come together to create an ambitious and forward-looking shared environment service, covering Environmental Regulatory Services and Highways & Transport functions. With a focus on delivering high quality frontline services, this innovative partnership plays its role in creating sustainable communities, with diverse transport networks and quality environments for all to enjoy. We offer a series of unique, fulfilling and exciting challenges in a dynamic working environment where innovation and creativity is needed just as much as the energy and desire to get things done.

We're currently recruiting for two Engineers in our Development Control Teams. Transportation Development Control within our Strategy & Commissioning team is undertaken by a small team spread across our two offices and provides highways and transport advice on Planning Applications and development consultations. This includes strategic and major transport projects as well as contributing towards S106, S38 and S278 legal agreements, and reviews of Transport Assessments and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS) proposals. DC Engineers are encouraged to share learning with each other and to work closely with colleagues across the group, especially Sustainable Transport on Travel Planning issues, as well as those in the Planning Departments of each Borough. You can expect a lot of variety as there are an interesting array of developments being planned and implemented in both Sutton and Kingston. We are seeking applications from suitably qualified Engineers with experience of working in or with a local authority.

Finding the right people is critical to our future success. We’re looking for people who combine enthusiasm, drive and creativity with a successful track record of delivering high quality transport solutions in a local authority environment, whether working in the public sector or private practice.

For all roles your work with us will help ensure our highways and transport infrastructure is safe, fit for purpose, sustainable, cost effective and well connected. So, you’ll need to have good communication skills with the ability to put your ideas across clearly to colleagues and customers - both in person and in writing, and you’ll need to demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritise your workload effectively in order to work on a number of projects simultaneously from inception to completion.
