The Department for Transport (DfT) is recruiting for two Senior Modeller/Analyst posts within transport modelling teams.

We are looking for candidates with proven expertise in using complex models to solve analytical problems and the ability to communicate analysis effectively to inform decision-making.

Working as part of a wider team, you’ll get the opportunity to work on leading-edge, multi-criteria models and influence the day-to-day lives of UK citizens.

Modelling teams have a vital role in the development of policy and informing investment decision-making. The responsibilities of a Senior Modeller/ Analyst will vary according to post.

The Transport Appraisal and Strategic Modelling (TASM) team is the Department’s centre of excellence for transport modelling, economics and appraisal. The team develops the evidence base and modelling and appraisal methodology to support the Department’s investment portfolio in highways, aviation, environment, local transport and rail.

This is an exciting time to join TASM as we face a number of interesting challenges, including:
• How to assess new technology in transport, including connected autonomous vehicle,
• Application of land use and economic modelling methods to assess wider economic impacts of transport interventions
• Uncertainty in forecasting and implications for modelling and appraisal
