JAQU is an innovative Defra-DfT cross departmental unit responsible for the delivery of the UK Plan for tackling roadside Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) concentrations, which sets out the actions Government is taking to deliver compliance with legal NO2 limits. JAQU’s work is a high priority area for Government, and is supported by £572m dedicated funding. This agenda is subject to significant levels of wider interest and scrutiny.
As a Grade 7 transport modeller, you will support Local Authorities across England in developing their transport models. These models are a key component of their local modelling and used to develop local plans for reducing NO2 concentrations to within limit values in the shortest possible time. You will also support and monitor the implementation of local plans including evaluating the impacts of policy interventions on travel and consequently air quality measures.
Moreover, you will be working on improving the transport models and evidence required for air quality modelling and policy development. You will be working alongside our other grade 7 transport modeller and report to the head of the evidence team.
Please refer to the attached role profile for the full duties and responsibilities of the position.
