Projects Group within TfGM is changing. As well as our more traditional transport construction projects and programmes, such as Metrolink, transport interchanges, rail stations, highways and bus priority, we are now delivering a range of emerging priorities from easing congestion, addressing air quality and encouraging more people to cycle and walk. Overall this level of investment is likely to exceed over £1 billion over the next few years.

Are you committed to being a critical partner in achieving challenging objectives in an ever changing environment? We are seeking individuals who are experienced leaders within a Project environment to join our team to contribute to the achievement of delivering our challenging and emerging strategic priorities.

You will have considerable experience in a senior leadership role involving the planning and management of staff and work programmes. You will also have strong management, negotiating, analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, both text and numerical, whilst working to tight deadlines and meeting funding and operational targets.

You will have strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders using a variety of forms of communication. You will have experience of presenting information to a range of political, professional and public audiences.

Extensive experience of project management techniques, a working understanding of the transport and environmental context within which we work, financial acumen (including managing budgets) and the ability to lead on partnership working with a wide range of stakeholders is required.

Reporting to a senior leader within Projects Group, in addition to the technical aspects of the role you will be required to lead and manage a team of project management professionals working across a wide range of projects and have suitable experience and knowledge to guide and support your team.

You will contribute to the management and leadership of the Projects Group function and the wider organisation.
