Strategic Transport Lead
Location: Blackburn with Darwen
Salary: £45,495-£49,590

This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse and dynamic growing team helping to deliver a successful and sustainable growth programme for Blackburn with Darwen. This is a newly created post following a re-structure of the Growth and Development Department.

The post sits within the Strategic Planning and Transport Team, which brings together officers with a range of expertise in strategic planning, strategic transport, environmental policy and projects, and GIS.

It is an interesting time to join the Borough. The Council is looking to build on its recent successes in delivering significant transport improvements and investment in Blackburn and Darwen. A new Local Transport Plan and Local Plan are both in preparation, alongside a number of other sustainable transport plans and initiatives. All this work has a key role to play in addressing the climate emergency and in helping the Council to meet its ambition to be carbon neutral by 2030.

The Strategic Transport Lead will be responsible for leading the strategic transport function of the Council, collaborating with a wide range of external stakeholders to develop sustainable transport strategy, policy and projects. The successful applicant will also work closely with the Highways and Transport Service in developing and delivering infrastructure plans related to public transport and active travel.
