Location: Flexible across the North of England, but with a requirement to regularly work and travel between our offices in Manchester and Leeds
Salary: £32,005 - £38,698 per annum

Transport for the North (TfN) is England’s first Sub-national Transport Body. We were formed to transform the transport system across the North of England, providing the infrastructure needed to drive economic growth.

We bring together the North’s twenty local transport authorities and business leaders together with Network Rail, Highways England, and HS2 Ltd and working with Central Government. We enable the North to speak with one voice on the transport infrastructure investment needed to drive transformational growth and rebalance the UK economy.

Our role is to add strategic value by ensuring that funding and strategy decisions about transport in the North are informed by local knowledge and requirements. This fits with the devolution agenda and we draw powers down from central government rather than up from local government.

TfN is looking to recruit the following role:

TfN’s Transport Appraisal, Modelling and Economics (TAME) team is split into three closely related core activities of:

• data analytics & modelling;
• technical management and assurance; and
• economic research and analysis.

Whilst TAME Officers can expect to be involved across all three activities role profiles are tailored primarily to one activity, with this role tailored towards economic research and analysis

As an Officer of the TAME team you will be required to apply technical expertise and theoretical understanding to deliver a programme of strategic research and analysis that aids others in the production of recommendations and outputs

What we’re looking for:

The successful candidate will have a strong quantitive skills specifically in data analysis and evidence assessment and will be proficient in the completion of high-quality strategic analysis.

Proven experience in the production of high-quality research and knowledge of commissioning external research is essential as are strong communication skills and the ability to influence others using complex information and a variety of data sources.

Candidates must possess a highly numerate degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
