An exciting opportunity has arisen with our client in Eastern Australia for an experienced Transport Planner / Engineer at Principal level, to join one of the most dynamic transport planning teams in the country.

Focussing on technical excellence in project delivery, the role is to deliver project technical work both independently and as part of a team, working generally with limited guidance, and helping to guide junior staff in project delivery. This is also a specialist technical role in the field of transport planning, traffic engineering and transport / traffic services. The role necessitates an understanding of and the ability to apply transport planning and traffic engineering principles, as well as using transport modelling packages and traffic engineering to deliver network optimisation outcomes.

The role will also contribute to the development of high profile infrastructure projects in the end markets of transport and urban development for key clients, including private developers, contractors and public transport operators, and supporting development of opportunities through networking, business development, marketing and bid preparation.

Around 6-8 staff will report directly to the postholder, so experience should have been gained in day-to-day staff management and their learning and development.

Degree qualified in a relevant subject, and ideally holding a professional qualification, candidates will have the ability to take a technical lead and manage small to medium sized projects, as well as being able to take financial responsibility, and responsibility for their delivery. A knowledge of related specialisms such as road design, road safety, and transport operational modelling would be helpful.

Good technical skills, knowledge and experience in transport planning and transport/ traffic modelling and engineering (network optimisation) is required, as is experience in using and managing / guiding the use of corridor, intersection and micro-simulation modelling packages for transport/ traffic analysis. You should have a good track record in working on multi-disciplinary projects across the project lifecycle, together with excellent project management skills.

Our client will offer a competitive, negotiable salary depending on experience. The indicated range, including superannuation, is AUD 130-145,000 p.a. with an additional package of benefits including relocation assistance and visa sponsorship.
