Plymouth has much to offer in terms of an unrivalled lifestyle with amazing green spaces, a stunning waterfront and close proximity to some of the best beaches and landscapes in the country, including Dartmoor National Park.

This is a spectacular waterfront city which will be seeing many exciting changes over the next few years such as the redevelopment of a major part of the City Centre and the waterfront. These changes are all leading up to the Mayflower 400 celebrations being held in 2020 which marks the Pilgrims’ epic journey to the New World.

The Council’s Transport Planning Team is part of the Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Department, responsible for delivering the Plymouth and South West Devon joint Local Plan. Pivotal to this plan is the delivery of major housing and employment developments and supporting transport infrastructure as part of the city’s ambitious growth agenda.

As a result of the level of inward investment from the private sector and the unprecedented amount of funded new transport infrastructure Plymouth City Council is looking for an exceptional Transport Planning Officer who is able to work with some of the largest private developers in the country. The post holder will determine the transport impacts and requirements that enable delivery of these new developments, responding to issues that arise in the implementation of transport and highway works including the completion of Section 38 and 278 Agreements and negotiating of S106 Agreements.

In return we will give you variety and profile in one of the most exciting cities in the UK, during what is an exciting and challenging time for local government.
