Oxfordshire County Council is looking for an Active and Healthy Travel Officer to take forward Active Travel policy and projects

About the role
Working with the Active Travel Hub lead, you will help coordinate, develop and mobilise active travel projects, working with internal and external partners, including Public Health, Planning, Innovation, Environment and other staff to lead and deliver this agenda. As a member of the Active Travel Hub, the postholder will continually work to integrate active travel across all Council activities, services and policies.

You will be taking forward Active Travel policy, strategy and projects across infrastructure planning to meet Council and wider Stakeholder aims to support the Oxfordshire economy, whilst also improving residents’ quality of life. The challenges the team are aiming to influence include:

• responding to the climate emergency,
• supporting housing and employment growth,
• promoting healthy place shaping,
• planning for the right type of infrastructure investment.

These will shape Oxfordshire for many years to come, and your role will be at the heart of it.

About you
Your demonstrable knowledge and skills in active travel policy and project development will be key to your success in this role. Working with others, both across the County Council and externally, you will also be comfortable in working collaboratively in taking forward complex projects and programmes of work, and representing the Council on active travel matters.

Your written and verbal communication skills will be vital to ensuring effective progress of high-profile projects including the Active and Healthy Travel Strategy and Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans. You will also need to be comfortable in the collection and use of data to inform development of policy and projects.
