As Brighton & Hove’s Transport and Highway Development Manager you’ll have a wide-reaching impact, working to ensure all new development in the city has a positive effect on highway safety, traffic capacity and the environment, as well as meeting the diverse needs of our community and supporting our ambition to become carbon neutral by 2030. This is a rare opportunity to provide leadership in one of England’s busiest unitary Transport services within easy reach of London, and to cultivate a new, expanded team to respond flexibly and efficiently to the development demands of the city. As the successful candidate you will possess strong leadership skills and have experience of managing large-scale projects and work packages. You will have a track record of successfully developing and delivering change, and you’ll also have a strong customer ethos, a collaborative approach and excellent communication skills across a broad range of diverse groups.

As a senior officer you’ll work directly to the Head of Transport Policy & Strategy, helping set the strategic direction for City Transport. You will be based in our modern, open plan offices in the city centre and benefit from flexible working, including home-working. Joining an enthusiastic and supportive team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues from a range of fields, working closely with the Planning service and Transport Project teams to deliver transport infrastructure changes across the city.
