Davies to leave bus industry

First Cymru managing director Justin Davies will end his long career in the bus industry in April, to become vicar of south-west Gower. Davies worked in the civil service after graduating and subsequently, in the early 1980s, joined bus operator Midland Red as a traffic clerk in Worcester. He was FirstGroup’s regional managing director for the South West and Wales for four years, before returning to his earlier role as managing director of First Cymru in 2012.

Gifford is West Yorks future mobility lead

Kate Gifford (pictured) has been appointed head of future mobility at the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. She worked for Carplus from 2011 until December last year, and had been a director of the organisation since October 2016.  

RPS announces new recruits

Consultant RPS?has made a series of appointments. Russell Henderson joins its Edinburgh office from SYSTRA, where he was associate director. Kevin Kay joined the Edinburgh office in November as director from WSP, where he was technical director. Jamie Connors has joined the London office from WSP as director, and Amy Waites has joined the Oxford office as an associate, from consultant Matrix.

Lewis sets up ActivePlanning 

Richard Lewis has set up the consultancy ActivePlanning, which will promote active travel in spatial planning, transport strategies, and urban design. Lewis worked for the UK arm of Dutch engineering consultant Witteveen+Bos from 2015 to 2017. He was previously mini-Holland programme principal transport planner at the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. 

Ho joins Deloitte

Si Ho has joined Deloitte as an integrated transport consultant in Manchester. He was a senior innovation officer at Transport for Greater Manchester from 2009 to March 2017, and chairs the TravelSpirit Foundation.

Lewis leaves SYSTRA

Rhian Lewis has left consultant SYSTRA?where she was an associate responsible for business development and project management in the south-west of England and Wales. 

McIntosh joins Mott Mac from IBI

Douglas McIntosh has joined Mott MacDonald as a software systems project manager from IBI Group, where he was a consultant.

Highways England has appointed Peter Mumford as director of major projects & capital portfolio management. He has held the post on an interim basis since August.

Tony Berkeley is to retire as chairman of the Rail Freight Group in November.
