Scane retires from Oxfordshire

Sue Scane has retired as Oxfordshire County Council’s director for environment and economy. Bev Hindle, currently deputy director, strategy & infrastructure planning is acting director. 

McDonald is shadow transport secretary

Andy McDonald has been appointed Labour’s shadow transport secretary following the resignation of Lilian Greenwood in protest at Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of the party. McDonald is the MP for Middlesbrough. 

Sustrans announces England South team

Sustrans has announced its new management structure for its England South operations, which combine the former South East and South West regions. James Cleeton is England director South; Jon Usher head of partnerships; Sarah Leeming head of delivery; Paola Spivach head of design & engineering; and Simon Pratt head of network development. Network development managers cover specific geographic areas. They are: David Young  – Kent, Medway, East Sussex, Brighton & Hove, West Sussex, Surrey. Nick Farthing – Wiltshire, Bracknell Forest, Reading, Slough, West Berkshire, Windsor & Maidenhead, Wokingham, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset. Peter Challis – Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Swindon, Milton Keynes. Rupert Crosbee – Gloucestershire, Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Torbay, Devon, Somerset, and Plymouth (with Jim Woffenden). Simon Murray – Cornwall. 

Taylor leads RATP Dev in London

RATP Dev has appointed Fiona Taylor managing director for its London bus operations, London United and London Sovereign. She is currently project director for the East Midlands rail franchise tender at the DfT, and has previously worked for Network Rail and BAA. 

Phil Bateman MBE has retired from his position as Confederation of Passenger Transport manager for the West Midlands region. Bateman, who is a Labour councillor on the City of Wolverhampton Council, joined CPT in 2008 from Travel West Midlands, where he had held a number of roles over 20 years including corporate affairs director. David Warrilow takes over as manager for the East and West Midlands next month. He is a former sales manager with Evobus UK.

Stephen Glaister has been re-appointed chair of the Office of Rail and Road until December 2017. Glaister, who was appointed chair in January, is also emeritus professor of transport and infrastructure at Imperial College, London. 

Chris Cheek is stepping down from the board of directors of the TAS Partnership, having served since its incorporation in 1994.
