This is an unprecedented time to join the City of London and become part of the Built Environment – City Transportation team that is helping shape our Future City.

This is your opportunity to be involved in the most innovative multi-million pound projects in the world’s most famous and iconic city, and gain the kudos that it brings. At the top of your game, you will help to influence associated projects, the wider City’s highways network, transportation strategy and key public realm projects. Your aim: to enhance the experience of everyone coming into this great city, while retaining the reputation of the capital on the world stage as a hub of culture, history and green spaces.

This role is integral in realising our vision for our ‘Future City’. You will lead on key projects on behalf of the Transportation Division while acting as a lead advisor to the Corporate Place Steering Group on transportation matters connected with the City’s street network functions. Known for your talent and innovation, you will recommend on allocations of space and what streets should be used for in the future, leading to a smarter City with extensive connectivity for both residents and workers.

Outgoing, enthusiastic and inquisitive, you will have a degree in engineering or similar together with chartered professional status in a relevant discipline. Fully up to speed with the Highways Act 1980, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Traffic Management Act 2004 and the Transport Act 1990, you will have a flair for negotiating with and influencing stakeholders. You will also have the leadership skills to ensure that your team of transport planners and support officers keeps on moving and maintain focus and momentum, whatever the challenges they face.
