Oxford Bus Company consists of Oxford Bus, City Sightseeing, Thames Travel and Carousel Buses employing approximately 1000 people in the Oxfordshire/High Wycombe area. The Company is part of the Go-Ahead Group which is a FTSE 250 company specialising in bus and rail transport in the UK and internationally.

Oxford Bus operates a comprehensive network of services in the city, as well as express coach services to London and the airports. We also operate the BROOKESbus service in partnership with Oxford Brookes University, and the popular park&ride service which connects five car parks to the city centre. Most recently we have also added the Oxford City Sightseeing business to our team.

In addition, Thames Travel based in Wallingford provides bus services to cover the geographical area of South Oxfordshire and into Berkshire and Carousel Buses operate in High Wycombe and Buckinghamshire.

We are recruiting a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Express Manager.

In this role you will be responsible for the day to day operation of our Express coach network; the Airline, the Oxford to London X90s and the National Express 737 contract.  Your main responsibilities will be ensuring the highest quality service is delivered to our customers, by:

  • Ensuring the Express coach network runs in accordance with Traffic Commissioners guidelines and meets company targets in terms of punctuality and reliability
  • Minimising controllable lost mileage on our Express services
  • Managing a team of professional drivers and Express Controllers to ensure they deliver the highest quality service
  • Coaching drivers, holding return to work and colleague meetings
  • Preparing and issuing all express staff notices including roadworks and events
  • At all times, achieving all of the above whilst being mindful of cost
  • To operate in line with the Company vision and values and encourage others to do the same

To be successful in this role, you must be an excellent communicator and be able to build strong working relationships. You will have prior experience of managing a team and be able to motivate them to provide exceptional customer service to our passengers. You will have a strong eye for detail and be adaptable to a fast paced environment.
