Engineering Manager (Tram)

Blackpool Transport is the major provider of local bus and tram services in the Blackpool and Fylde area with a turnover of c£23m employing some 600 staff.

As we launch the upgraded tramway and new fleet of trams the Company is seeking to appoint an Engineering Manager to lead the tram engineering teams at both our new state of the art depot at Starr Gate and our Rigby Road depot, where heritage trams are sited.

The Engineering Manager will have total responsibility for ensuring the proactive and dynamic direction, development and management of the engineering department which includes 16 modern trams and up to 30 heritage trams and 30 staff. Delivery of high quality services to customers from all areas of the business will be achieved by providing safe, reliable and effective tram maintenance.

The ideal candidate will fully understand ORR requirements and be capable of ensuring that maintenance procedures and standards are delivered in accordance with regulations and best practice. A qualification in electrical engineering and experience of contract management is desirable as is knowledge of electrical substation and overhead line maintenance. You will also have membership of IRTE/CILT or a similar professional body and will have or be prepared to gain a full NEBOSH qualification.
