Our Highway and Transport Service are looking to recruit either a level two or level three highways Development Control Engineer, to join the Sustainable Transport Team.

We play a key role by continuing to invest in transport improvements that improve accessibility, especially where there is an economic and/or environmental benefit and are responsible for delivering a wide range of functions that have a direct impact on businesses and residents of Wiltshire. This includes transport planning, major scheme development, road safety and highways development control.

About the role

As one of our Development Control Engineers, you will bring proven experience and skills to a role dealing with the risks and opportunities arising from development proposals, identifying transport impact mitigation and infrastructure requirements; negotiate effective planning agreements to secure requisite solutions; to maximise community advantage, and to ensure that the transport and highway interests of all stages of development are delivered to an appropriate standard.

Working closely with colleagues in planning and highway engineering, you will influence the quality of development and infrastructure within a large unitary Council experiencing rapid growth.

About you

Proven working knowledge and experience of current transport planning/traffic engineering technical and legal requirements is essential.

You’ll also need to be familiar with the planning system and hold corporate membership of a relevant professional body.
