VACANCY – ENGINEERING MANAGER

The award winning Isle of Wight Steam Railway is looking to recruit an Engineering Manager.

In recent years the Railway has enjoyed a period of unprecedented growth and there are a number of exciting opportunities which may arise in the future, we are looking for an individual who will rise to the challenge of growing our business and deliver the changes necessary to bring this about.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the role is to effectively manage the Railway’s engineering functions and assets by leading, directing and motivating teams responsible for locomotives; rolling stock; estates and infrastructure in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.

Our ideal candidate will have managerial experience in an engineering environment and will be able to demonstrate their ability to plan, monitor and control budgets; project manage a diverse range of engineering schemes, and lead and motivate paid staff and volunteers.

We are seeking an effective communicator who is able to build positive relationships at all levels, you will need to be self-motivated, willing to take a hands on approach when the need arises and be flexible in your approach to working hours and environment.

Although not essential, experience of working with heritage railways and an understanding of the safety regulations that govern the operation of railways would be an advantage. Training can be given if necessary.
