12-month fixed term contract

The Service Delivery Directorate is currently seeking an Engineering Specialist to work as part of a multi-disciplinary transport and engineering team contributing to the delivery of the Council’s Environment Strategy.
We are looking for applicants who are able to provide a high standard of professional specialist advice and support to ensure compliance with legislation, professional codes of practice and adherence to policy.
With attainment of a relevant qualification or with extensive experience, you will be accountable for a range of reasonably complex cases that require sound technical skills and knowledge. You will need to have demonstrable experience of setting up Traffic Regulation Orders and of designing and delivery of accessibility and transport solutions. Applicants are expected to have a good understanding of the relationship between Traffic Regulation Orders, road safety and environmental issues.
Experience in the use of Autocad and GIS is also required.
We are looking for professionals who can demonstrate an ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm, even when the pressure of workload is high. Strong IT skills and a willingness to learn about the latest techniques, software and technical methodologies are also essential.
