Do you have a professional qualification in engineering or transportation, experience of designing transport engineering improvement schemes of all types and sizes and a proven ability to project manage major engineering projects in a team environment?

Then make the move to Bracknell Forest Council.

Right now, our Highways and Transport division is looking for a Senior Engineer within the Transport Engineering team to lead on major transport infrastructure improvements from the design stage to completion. As well as being responsible for the overall management of projects, you’ll engage with and manage a range of engineers, consultants and contractors. We’ll also rely on you to act as a technical expert and identify issues and solutions to a variety of transport engineering, traffic management and road safety related matters as part of our the day to day function as of a Highway Authority.

Inspecting and supervising engineering construction projects, managing a small team of engineering staff, contributing towards policies and strategies and setting and managing budgets – all are aspects of this challenging role.

To succeed, you’ll need either a relevant degree, HNC or equivalent and Membership of an appropriate Institution (or be working towards it). We’ll also be looking for experience of managing consultants and contractors, including site supervision on major engineering projects. Familiarity with current government policies, standards and legislation in transport engineering, traffic management and road safety is essential too, alongside the ability to communicate clearly with all our stakeholders.

Adept at writing reports and great at analysing information and presenting your findings in a coherent form, liaising with a wide range of professionals comes naturally to you too, as does managing people and sharing knowledge.

As an area, Bracknell Forest has much to offer. It’s a thriving Borough that is currently benefitting from development growth and a regenerated town centre bringing an abundance of new retail outlets, restaurants, cafes and leisure opportunities. Though much of its centre is modern, Bracknell has a strong historic background. Once part of the Windsor Great Forest, it still nestles in woodlands; one fifth of the borough is forest, with another fifth protected for its high wildlife value including ten sites of specific scientific interest.

Located in the heart of the Thames Valley and close to Reading, the town of Bracknell has excellent road and rail links to all areas of the UK, with the council office situated within two minutes’ walk of the station. There is also nearby parking, making it extremely accessible.

Bracknell Forest Council prides itself on being an excellent employer. We offer a fantastic range of benefits including flexible and agile working arrangements, as well as learning and development opportunities, which will offer the chance to develop and progress your career.
