Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) Programme Officer
£37,890 - £43,857 p.a. incremental progression dependent on performance
This is an exciting time within the Council. We are aiming for net-zero carbon emissions, and as part of our plan we have a fantastic opportunity for a Programme Officer to work on the Council's emerging portfolio of Ultra Low Emissions Vehicles (ULEV) projects.
With the ULEV sector rapidly developing, and in line with the Council's commitment to de-carbonise transport and deliver improvements in air quality for residents, the Council wishes to recruit the right person to deliver it's recently adopted Electric Vehicle Strategy, as well as develop wider opportunities relating to transport de-carbonisation - which could involve road, rail and air.
As ULEV Programme Officer you will support in the planning, development and delivery of ULEV initiatives, either as standalone projects such as the installation of on-street residential chargepoints, or as part of wider projects such as ULEV elements within residential and commercial developments.
You will play a key role in communication, providing advice and taking part in engagement activities to ensure excellent levels of awareness, understanding and opportunities relating to emerging ULEV technology both within the Council (such as fleet managers, procurement team, planning colleagues, Directors), and externally (such as local businesses and residents).
Finally, with transport contributing to the majority of Solihull's carbon emissions, the role will contribute meaningfully to the development and delivery of the borough's emerging Net Zero Action Plan - our path to net zero.
To be successful in this role you will be Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and have a qualification in project management. You will be able to demonstrate a strong, applied, understanding of the ULEV sector and demonstrate leading or meaningfully contributing to recent ULEV-related projects.
Not only demonstrating an understanding of the financial, procurement and legislative considerations relating to all activity, you will also be a skilled communicator able to engage with a wide-range of internal and external stakeholders, to inspire both confidence and action.
In return we can offer you a unique opportunity to be involved in a wide range of diverse and exciting projects with potential for further career development as the programme matures. Working for Solihull means that not only can we offer employees a great working environment, but also a range of agile and flexible working options, attractive staff benefits including an extensive wellbeing offer and a career average pension scheme.
Whilst this post is offered on a full time basis, applications for part time or job share working would be welcomed.
