Transport development in Leeds is moving at a fast pace with a pipeline of major investments comprising over £500 million worth of projects including new public transport investments, highways, active travel, city centre growth and city centre place making. Leeds City Council is recruiting to the following posts with a closing date of 17th January 2021.

PRINCIPAL HIGHWAYS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (GRADE PO6)

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Transport Development Services Team in Highways and Transportation. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and technically minded manager to join our highly committed team. The job requires managing workloads and performance, along with assessing the impact of major development proposals on the transport network, identifying and promoting highway and transport schemes and travel plans. Attendance at Plans Panel, fostering good working relationships with Councillors and other stakeholders, and providing expert witness evidence at public inquiries and other appeals form part of the role. The postholder will need a degree in Civil Engineering or Transport Planning and/or significant Highways Development experience.

The post is based at Merrion House in Leeds City Centre with staff mainly currently working from home. It is full time (37 hours a week) with flexible working hours. Anyone who is interested in applying for the post should contact Gillian MacLeod [email protected]

We are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic and technically minded individuals to join our Transport Development Services team within the Highways and Transportation Service. The post-holders will assess the impact of development proposals on the transport network and identify and promote safe and sustainable highway and transport schemes, along with travel plans. These posts offer an exciting development opportunity for the successful candidates.

SECTION 38/278 GROUP ENGINEER (GRADE PO4)

The Section 38/278 Group Engineer will work as part of a team to ensure proposed highway schemes are constructed and implemented in line with statutory obligations, City Council policies, standards and specifications for adoption as publicly maintainable highway. The team has a high volume of work and we are looking for a highly motivated individual who is able to work as part of a team and on their own using their initiative to resolve queries as they may arise.

The above post will be based within St George House in Leeds City Centre and work in various locations and sites within the district.
