We need progressive thinking dynamic individuals to join us as we use evidence to shape our £7.3bn transport programme and as we unlock tomorrow’s technologies and insights in collaboration with many of the UK’s leading industrial and academic partners.

Transport for West Midlands, the transport arm of the WMCA is a rapidly growing authority and fast emerging as a standard setter in the industry – in October becoming only the second ever to win the ‘City-Region Transport Authority of the Year’ Award twice in a row. We are re-shaping our Policy, Strategy and Innovation Department to respond to new challenges and the largest Combined Authority Mayoral portfolio outside London. We want new talent to join our already excellent team.

The department has recently established the WMCA’s first strategic transport plan; a 2026 Transport Delivery Plan; an ambitious delivery programme of globally unique Connected and Autonomous Vehicle testbed facilities; and a UK first of kind Mobility as a Service pilot service; alongside delivering a new service model for policy, strategy, intelligence, analytics and insight across a population of over 1.8million people, 3 cities and 7 local authorities.

We need progressive thinking dynamic individuals to join us as we use evidence to shape our £7.3bn transport programme and as we unlock tomorrow’s technologies and insights in collaboration with many of the UK’s leading industrial and academic partners. We are looking for:

ITS-CAV Project Lead (£47,802-£53,805pa)
An innovative thinker with a pragmatic approach, this key senior role will direct the delivery of a secured multi-million pound programme of CAV and ITS projects and will shape future collaborations and projects.

Transport Data Framework Manager (part-time at £45,057-£50,713pa pro rata’d)
With an eye for detail, a good technical appreciation of transport appraisal and a solid understanding of client-supplier roles and contracting. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the successful smooth running of a complex suite of data analytics and modelling services supporting TfWM and our partners.

Data Integration Consultant (£50,713pa for a fixed term of 18months)
You will work across our teams to accelerate our ability to access data and maximise its use. If you know your R-tree index from your Treemap diagram and can enthuse about ETL then this senior support role will give you the unique opportunity to utilise your data skills and help us up-skill.

Data Analyst & Spatial Data Analyst (£25,724-£30,096pa)
With a head for data and a passion for communicating information you will need a keen interest in the evidence and insight that drives our decisions on the ground and our investment programmes. These roles will be central to the delivery of new services using the latest technology and techniques. With scope for development and growth, you will shape news ways of working and set new standards.

5x Transport Graduates (£22,866pa plus development)
As dynamic individuals who thrive on challenge, taking the initiative and having a drive to develop an outstanding professional skill base, you will have opportunity to work on nationally and globally significant projects and shape innovative new service delivery models. We are looking for 5 excellent graduates with a flair for communications and numbers to work across policy, strategy, research and analysis and technology and innovation programmes, with potential to either specialise or rotate.

Transport Support Officer (£18,798-£21,991pa)
As a committed professional and consummate team player with pride in your work, you will work closely with the Director of Policy, Strategy & Innovation and Director of Programme Development to provide daily administrative support. This will keep you close to the action and provide a valuable development insight to a fast paced environment.
