Salary: Grade 12, Level 1- 4 (£46,288 to £52,991 per annum)

Job description

We are looking for a project manager to lead on the development and delivery of the major transport projects planned for the city over the next 5-10 years.

The postholder will be responsible for delivering transport schemes with a value in excess of GBP 50m. The main projects under their control will include:

* a new access bridge and road into the York Central development,

* improvements to the transport interchange at the front and rear of the station

* an upgrade of the A1237 Outer Ring Road.

These are very high profile schemes which are fundamental to the future prosperity of the city.

A track record in delivering projects from concept through to commissioning is required. The responsibilities of the role will include:

* preparation of funding bids,

* economic evaluation to confirm options,

* consultation with public and stakeholders,

* gaining planning consent, acquisition of land,

* procurement of consultants and contractors

* project management of the construction phase.

The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate how they have worked with key stakeholders such as Councillors, Network Rail, Developers, Landowners and local residents on previous schemes.

Relocation expenses, in accordance with the City of York Council's Relocation Policy, may be available for the successful candidate subject to meeting the relevant criteria.
