Ensure our network meets the needs of the city’s people.

This is an unprecedented time to join the City of London and become part of the Built Environment – City Transportation team that is helping shape our Future City.

This is your opportunity to be involved in the most innovative multi-million pound projects in the world’s most famous and iconic city, and gain the kudos that it brings. At the top of your game, you will help to influence associated projects, the wider City’s highways network, transportation strategy and key public realm projects. Your aim: to enhance the experience of everyone coming into this great city, while retaining the reputation of the capital on the world stage as a hub of culture, history and green spaces.

Your role will be integral to ensuring that the highway and transport infrastructure meets the needs of the users of the city’s streets, now and in the future. Inquisitive and innovative, you will lead on all aspects of the permanent highway and transportation functions, including vehicle and pedestrian movement within the City of London’s highways network. We will look to you to deliver road safety engineering measures, lead on traffic management, cycling and road safety engineering programmes and take overall responsibility for traffic regulation orders.

Qualified to degree level in engineering or a similar technical discipline, you will have chartered professional status, ideally in highways and transportation, for example from the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation (CIHT). Challenging, dynamic and strategic in your focus, you will have a flair for people management and complex stakeholder engagement.

Do you have the drive, ambition and enthusiasm to help shape our strategy and deliver the full potential of our Future City?
