ATKINS

Job Title - Data Analyst - Transport Asset Management

Atkins is shaping the future of transportation and we’re looking for talented people to join us in developing and expanding our Transport Asset Management practice. You’ll join at an exciting time with asset management being a key growth theme across both our Transportation and wider businesses.

As the digital world collides with our physical environment, we're facing a wave of opportunity to use our skills in new ways. Our team is seizing this opportunity to grow and shape the industry. We are a team of asset management professionals with rich and diverse professional and personal backgrounds, and we cover all parts of asset management, including strategic, tactical, analytics, and resilience advice. The projects we work on are varied, dynamic and stimulating, providing plenty of opportunity for new challenges and personal growth.

The analyst team provides vital support to clients and other teams within Atkins, helping them understand their data and bring it to life. We use tools such as FME, Tableau, Excel and databases to process, analyse and interpret data. We use our skills and experience to help our colleagues and clients interpret the data and use it for evidence-based decision making, which often involves using visual tools and dashboards.

We are looking for analysts at all levels, from junior analysts who may have just finished their degree or PhD, to senior analysts with a range of experience (even if it is outside the transportation sector). The people we’re seeking to employ will enjoy contributing across a portfolio of consultancy projects and will thrive in a busy, innovative and challenging environment. You’ll be technically excellent, whatever your level of experience and will be equally happy presenting to a client or developing technical details back at the office.

Depending on your level of experience and on your appetite for a challenge, you will be either assisting in projects under the direction of senior analysts, or leading projects and delivery teams. The team is growing fast, so opportunities for line management and team management are also available.

The core of our analyst team is based at our Birmingham office but we’re a flexible employer and will consider the right candidates nationally. A typical week will see you both in our Atkins offices and potentially visiting clients across the country. We also support the wider Atkins group with international projects and occasional overseas travel will form part of all roles.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Use and enhance existing toolsets to prepare, load and validate data;
• Analyse database outputs and present findings to customers;
• Identify requirements alongside colleagues and customers;
• Deliver (or lead, depending on experience) allocated project tasks, to quality, time and budget requirements, as directed by project managers and/or team leaders;
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
• Contribute to the development of tenders and ideas for win work activities;
• Comply with and champion company processes and policies, and ensure adherence to safety, welfare, quality and environmental requirements

We're interested in hearing from people with any of the following:

• Degree or equivalent, ideally in a numerate subject such as Computer Science or Mathematics
• Experience using SQL (DDL and DML) with SQL Server database technology
• Experience using Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) software, especially FME
• Experience in database programming (SQL Server)
• Experience in Business Intelligence application development with Microsoft .NET technologies, SQL Server Analysis Services and Reporting Services
• Experience in database administration
• Experience of source code control technology
• Experience in data translation processes and software
• Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to influence others and able to convey technically challenging information through a variety of media including presentations, written reports, diagrams and graphics
• Knowledge of the highways or rail sector.

We offer a fantastic environment with fresh, modern offices that buzz with the excitement of people working at the very forefront of our industry. Join us and you’ll be joining a business that places no limits on how far you can progress.

You’ll gain experience on an exciting range of industry-leading projects, have the opportunity to inspire and be inspired by colleagues in offices across the UK and the globe. You’ll benefit from our promotion-from-within policy and enjoy an exceptional rewards and benefits package including forward-thinking flexible working options to ensure that working with us works for you.

We are committed to equal opportunities as we know from experience that diverse teams provide the best mix of interpersonal and technical skills needed to exceed our customers’ expectations.
