Senior Transport Planner (Low Emission Neighbourhoods & H2020)

Royal Borough of Greenwich

Royal Borough of Greenwich

Greenwich is undergoing a huge transformation – In 2012 we become a Royal Borough and host for the Olympic Games. Crossrail is coming to the Borough and we are developing land, buildings and new transport links to create a living and working destination of choice.

Strategic Transportation plays a key role in the regeneration of the Borough, and we are seeking to recruit two enthusiastic and committed individuals to take up these key positions.

The roles will deliver an exciting package of initiatives as part of our ‘Low Emission Neighbourhood’ (LEN) and Horizon 2020 (Sharing Cities) programmes in the west of the Borough.

Senior Transport Planners (Horizon 2020 and Low Emission Neighbourhoods)

Contract: Two year fixed term contract. Hours: 35 Hours Per Week

This will involve delivery of a variety of transport schemes that will contribute to improved local air quality within the areas. These schemes include the roll out of electric vehicles and e-bikes, new cycling and walking infrastructure, new and improved public realm, freight servicing, and localised travel planning. ‘Smart’ technologies will be developed and used across a number of these initiatives to assist in the optimisation of uptake and understanding their effectiveness.

You will have experience of sustainable transport policy and planning, scheme implementation, budget management and partnership working. An understanding of urban air quality issues is desirable as is a good understanding of the local government framework within which the service operates.

You will also need a comprehensive knowledge of computer based systems to research and analyse information and data and report outcomes. You must be a strong communicator with good interpersonal skills and an appropriate professional or academic qualification.

If you would like and informal discussion about this position please contact Kim Smith (Transport Planning Manager) on 020 8921 5492 or Joel De Mowbray (Principal Transport Planner) on 020 8921 8074.
