The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is looking for a self-motivated individual with an understanding of Traffic Orders and GIS to join our Public Transport and Parking policy team as the Parkmap and Traffic Orders Officer. This role makes a vital contribution to the work we do to ensure our roads operate effectively and safely, and is pivotal to the Council’s day to day parking operations. The Council was the first in London to move to map- based traffic orders.
The Public Transport and Parking policy team is responsible for the day to day management of the Council’s Traffic Management Orders and the assessment of new parking requests across the borough. We also carry out ad-hoc data analysis and GIS mapping requests for the wider Transport Policy team.
As the Parkmap and Traffic Orders Officer you will provide technical support to the Transport Policy team. You will help us administer and maintain our map-based traffic order records, making sure data is accurate and formatted correctly and you will carry out all stages of the traffic order making process. You will also generate maps and tailor them to our needs using different software such as Arcmap and Map Info. You will have the opportunity to work on specific innovative projects which will improve the services we provide. You should have a proactive approach, be driven to support our business priorities and strive to improve the quality of the work we do. The role is varied and flexibility is essential. An understanding of the regulatory environment within which we operate would be helpful. You must be able to work on your own as well as collaboratively with teams across the Council and be highly organised in order to manage a demanding workload. You will need excellent written and oral communication skills, with a sharp eye for detail, together with an in-depth knowledge of Park Map and MapInfo software and the process for making traffic orders. Knowledge of CAD and Arcmap would be desirable.
