We are looking to appoint a Senior Road Safety Engineer to join our successful and innovative team where you will play a key role in ensuring that highway engineering schemes in Warwickshire are delivered to the highest safety standards. The delivery of such schemes is vital to supporting sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the county. The role offers an excellent opportunity to progress your career in Safety Engineering.

The Safety Engineering Team identifies, develops and delivers road safety schemes to meet the Casualty Reduction objectives of the County Council’s Local Transport Plan. The team also plays a key role in ensuring that all highway schemes carried out in Warwickshire are designed and constructed in a safe manner. This work ties in to the significant amount of planning and development due to take place in the county over the coming years. As such there is significant opportunity for the successful candidate to take a lead role in delivering interesting and challenging schemes over the next few years.

The Role

The successful applicant can expect a varied and challenging workload that is commensurate with the job grade. This will include the opportunity to project manage individual road safety schemes from their inception through to delivery. 

The post is advertised on a full time basis, but applications from candidates seeking flexible or part-time working arrangements will be considered.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role you will need to be motivated, creative, organised and willing to take responsibility for the success of your activities. You will need good analytical skills in order to develop detailed understanding of road safety problems and to identify, explore and develop solutions. As you will be working with and alongside a wide range of internal and external colleagues, partners and clients, you will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and be used to providing technical information to varied audiences.

Previous experience in Road Safety Engineering or related activity is desirable, but not essential as on-the-job training will be given.
