The city of Hull is undergoing resurgence with ongoing public and private sector investment in the city. Following a successful year as UK City of Culture, Hull City Council is continuing its multi-million pound investment in the City’s infrastructure. An increased capital programme means that we have a number of exciting opportunities available within the Highways team and you will play a key role in developing the infrastructure and delivering our aspirations for economic growth and sustainable travel. You will be part of an award-winning Major Projects and Infrastructure team that is transforming the city with its proactive approach and partnership working. Based at offices in the city centre, the Council has flexible working arrangements and is moving towards more smart and agile ways of working.

This is a lead role in the assessment of transport infrastructure and other highway impacts of planning applications, ensuring compliance with the relevant policies and technical standards. The ability to encourage and promote high quality development to deliver an attractive environment to work, live, learn and visit is essential. The position also requires the negotiation of appropriate agreements on behalf of the Council in relation to new roads and mitigation of development impacts to ensure a high quality highway network

You will:
• Provide advice on individual planning applications
• Have experience of dealing with the full range of planning and related applications
• Attend and provide advice to Planning Committee
• Assess the impacts of planning proposals on existing transport infrastructure
• Negotiate and manage agreements under sections 38 and 278 of the Highways Act 1980
