The city of Hull is undergoing a transformation with substantial public and private sector investment in housing, capital infrastructure supporting leisure, culture and the environment and leading the way on renewable energy and flood resilience. There is still much more that needs to be done to deliver on the city’s ambitions for carbon neutral, sustainable economic growth. Following a successful year as UK City of Culture, Hull City Council is continuing its multi-million pound investment in the City’s infrastructure. An increased highway capital programme means that we have a number of exciting opportunities available within the Highways team and you will play a key role in developing the infrastructure needed to deliver our aspirations for clean economic growth and sustainable travel. You will be part of an award-winning Major Projects and Infrastructure team that is transforming the city with its proactive approach and partnership working. Based at offices in the city centre, the Council has flexible working arrangements and is moving towards more smart and agile ways of working.

This role will lead on the identification, initiation, feasibility and development of options for strategic transport improvements across the city. Initially working on priority projects and key corridors already identified you will take a strategic development role to the future travel and infrastructure needs of the city. You will be working with the wider team to develop comprehensive bids, ensuring that the appropriate level of appraisal has been undertaken to develop a business case that will secure funding to deliver the transport aspirations of the City.

You will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience of developing briefs, businesses cases and funding bids.
- An ability to analyse problems, information and data to develop innovative solutions
- An understanding of the wider transport context within which schemes will need to be developed.
- An ability to work as part of a team involving internal staff, consultancy support and contractors.
