The Council is currently taking forward a significant number of traffic and transportation projects through central government grant funding and highway works associated with new developments. Many of these projects involve implementation and / or modifications of traffic signals and network management systems.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Traffic & Transportation Team as a team leader to take forward these projects. The post will lead a small team of officers primarily responsible for traffic signals throughout the city, including the maintenance of the signals in accordance with the network management plan and to budget.
The role will be critical in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, to specification and to budget. Experience of traffic signal design and / or Urban Traffic Control Systems is essential, along with a practical understanding of traffic signal modelling programmes, such as LINSIG and TRANSYT and experience of CAD systems, such as AutoCad. The role will also be responsible for input into the assessment of traffic signals / junction modifications for planning applications.
We require an individual that has experience of supervising others and liaising effectively with people inside and outside the organisation is essential. You must be willing to work outside of normal office hours.
