We're looking for an experienced planning professional with transport and infrastructure expertise to support our work in the London & South East region on a full-time basis for a 2 year fixed term contract.

We care for places of historic interest and natural beauty for ever, for everyone. You will play a key role in tackling the planning challenges facing our properties - from influencing major external infrastructure and third-party development projects to the sensitive development of our own places to sustain their future.

We look after, and welcome access for the public to more land and buildings in England, Wales and Northern Ireland than any other private landowner, so effective planning and sustainable management is at the heart of everything we do. Our core business is to carefully manage change in a sustainable way so that our special places survive forever, for everyone.

Climate change is a big challenge for us and our supporters, and we're looking for the right expertise to help us develop our operation and grow in a sustainable way. Our special places are also facing huge pressure from external development, including large transport infrastructure projects and associated development pressures. We need your help to manage these challenges, mitigate the impacts and seize the opportunities.

You’ll use your specialist transport and infrastructure planning knowledge help us to improve our own infrastructure and visitor experience, adapt to climate change and operate our properties in a more sustainable way. With your proven experience, colleagues will look to you for in-depth, up-to-the-minute advice and guidance. Like everyone here, you’ll relish the challenge of helping more and more people to enjoy our magical places and spaces, and to safeguard them for ever, for everyone.

Who we're looking for

• Practical knowledge and experience of urban and rural planning, major infrastructure, transport planning, environmental issues, landscape, conservation and sustainable development.
• You’ll have an up-to-date understanding of what’s happening in the wider world of land use and planning (including relevant legislation).

• Confidence in interpreting data and using your findings to influence colleagues and support them in the decision-making process.
• Able to proactively manage a challenging workload, by effectively prioritising, building a network of key contacts and through having the autonomy to decide where your time is best placed.
