Assistant Engineer / Engineer

Warrington Borough Council

Assistant Engineer / Engineer (ERGE-81-22)
Salary:GRADE 08 (£34,723 - £38,296)
Location:
WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL OFFICES, 1 TIME SQUARE, BEWSEY & WHITECROSS, WA1 2NT
Job reference:ERGE-81-22
Vacancy type:Full time

Warrington is one of the most successful towns in the country, regularly being ranked as one of the best places in the UK for economic performance and quality of life for its residents.

Warrington Borough Council recognises the importance of its Highway Network and how its asset can contribute to the social, economic and environmental development of the Borough and is investing significant funding.

Due to our success, an excellent opportunity within the Engineering and Flood Risk Team has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed Highway Maintenance Engineer, with an interest in the design, delivery and supervision of highway maintenance schemes in a busy urban environment.

The role will involve design, tendering, site supervision, co-ordination and overall management of Highway Maintenance schemes. Although the role will primarily involve the resurfacing of footways and carriageways, the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to develop broader experience within the Structures and Flood Risk Management parts of the team.

Experience of working on Highway Maintenance resurfacing schemes within a Local Authority environment will be an advantage. However, this is not essential as appropriate training and personal development will be provided to the right candidate, which may include study to achieve appropriate Civil Engineering qualifications.

Excellent interpersonal skills, determination, a will to achieve in a challenging environment, and a positive attitude to customers are key requirements. A current driving licence will be essential as travel around the borough is required. Experience of working flexibly and to tight deadlines is an essential requirement of the role.

The post holder will be based at our new Council offices in the Time Square development within the Town Centre.

The salary and grade of appointment will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
