Head of Highways and Transportation – Post Ref: EV230
Salary: £75,480, permanent, full-time
This is an exciting period of change for Calderdale. Therefore we look to appoint a knowledgeable and experienced Head of Highways and Transportation to help shape our services for the future. This role is vital to achieving Calderdale’s objectives and will lead our ambition for developing networks that will create excellent transport links with Leeds and Manchester City Region.
Through your expertise you will contribute to the creation of excellent transport infrastructure and services across the Leeds and Manchester City Regions, safeguard the natural beauty of Calderdale, and support economic growth through well planned infrastructure.
We are looking for an individual who can develop a clear and consistent approach that will maximise the benefits of growth and increase the overall prosperity of the Borough within the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. The successful candidate will also be required to provide the council with up to date policy advice in respect of all Highways and Transportation legislation and statutory requirements.
The post holder must have experience in presenting and briefing politicians, providing political impact analysis and have demonstrable experience of working in a political environment. The role will oversee annual budget of £10 million (Revenue & LTP Capital) and support the development and delivery of over £100m of West Yorkshire Plus Combined Authority projects, therefore relevant budget management experience is essential.
Applications will be considered from those with a Recognised Engineering / Transport Planning Qualification and hold chartered status with an appropriate body (ICE, IHT, IoLT).
