Are you seeking an opportunity to influence long-term transport strategy and its delivery plan in the fastest growing city region outside of London? TfGM's Transport Strategy Directorate is seeking an experienced and motivated transport modeller to join our Modelling and Analysis team. You will be involved in delivering traffic modelling and data analysis to support decision making and scheme development for a range of exciting projects identified in our Transport Strategy Delivery Plan.

Our Modelling and Analysis team plays a vital in providing analytical support and evidence to our stakeholders for a wide range of projects and strategies. The team delivers strategic transport modelling and applies the TfGM Value for Money Framework for major transport schemes, produces business case and funding application in line with the Department for Transport and HM Treasury guidance, and undertakes analysis of operations, scheme proposals and strategies.

TfGM oversees transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone. We deliver high-profile, large-scale transport projects, and it’s our experts who provide the information and analysis to shape transport strategy. This is a busy and exciting time for us: under the devolution agreement and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.

You will play a key role in developing and maintaining our in-house strategic highway network modelling capability, and managing its applications to support strategy and scheme development work. You will be working within a team of transport modellers, economists and analysts to enable you to see through the application of your work for producing business case, funding application and wider analysis of our strategies and policies. To achieve this, you will be working closely with internal and external stakeholders.

You will be enthusiastic and highly numerate, have effective written and verbal communication skills and have experience in the theory and application of transport modelling methods and techniques for model development and scheme forecasting.
