A first class opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Transport Planner at Principal level is now available with our client, a leading, multi discipline consultancy in Surrey. The business has an excellent range of contracts with private developers, local authorities and Highways England.

The position calls for a person with broad transport planning experience, and a strong interest/bias in micro-simulation modelling, particularly S-Paramics, although good VISSIM experience would also be considered. The role is interesting and varied, and will include :-

Delivering micro-simulation modelling projects and tasks to quality, programme and budgetary requirements.

Managing a range of modelling projects and undertaking team management responsibilities.

The preparation of high quality reports and technical notes.

Line management responsibilities.

Candidates will have a relevant degree, and possibly an M.Sc in Transport Planning in addition. Chartered status is desirable, but not essential. In addition to micro-simulation software, any experience on any of the macro programmes such as SATURN, VISUM etc. would be useful, as would experience of highway scheme appraisals and current economic modelling software such as COBA, QUADRO, TUBA, MyRIAD etc.

Experience in managing a varied workload of projects, together with the supervision of team members and the financial management of projects, is essential. Experience of working with both private and public sector clients would be advantageous, and previous experience in undertaking large modelling projects and contributing to key deliverables is essential.

An expert knowledge of transport modelling theory and methods, data collection, analytical techniques and appraisal methods is essential for this position.

The position offers excellent career prospects for an ambitious individual. The base salary is negotiable, based upon qualifications and experience, but probably in the range of £44-53,000 p.a., with flexible working, and an excellent package of benefits and choices.
