The role is a key operational appointment within the corporate research and intelligence team of West Yorkshire Combined Authority. You will provide day to day leadership and management of the organisations transport analytical function, providing high quality outputs to inform and support the work of the Combined Authority and its partners, and ensuring it forms an integral part of the organisations wider evidence base.

Reporting to the Economic and Transport Analysis Manager you will manage a team of up two dedicated Analysts responsible for the provision of all analytical outputs in this area.

This role will appeal to you if you have significant analytical and modelling experience, ideally in transport and/ or related disciplines, and understand how the outputs from your work will be used to inform strategy. If you are interested in all aspects of Transport policy from the delivery of HS2, considering future bus provision and options for active travel – and the types of analysis needed to support these – we want to hear from you.

You will have a good knowledge of nationally produced transport datasets and forecasts such as those produced by the Department for Transport and the Office of Rail Responsibility. In addition, you will have strong knowledge and understanding of the production, management and use of local transport data sets, as well as in managing commissions and surveys. Experience in evaluation techniques would also be beneficial.

You will also have a strong understanding of transport’s wider role in supporting local economies and places and the types of data and analytical techniques that can be used to analyse this. In particular, understanding transport’s role in supporting labour mobility and wider social outcomes would be an important strength.

You will need to have the ability to communicate and effect change through the use and application of analytical techniques and proven experience working in a large multi-disciplinary research environment ideally gained within a public sector delivery setting.

If this role interests you and feel your knowledge and skills can support the work of the Combined Authority then we are keen to hear from you.
