Are you seeking a challenging and varied role to help Transport for Greater Manchester forecast the future of travel in Greater Manchester? As a Senior Transport Planner within TfGM’s Transport Strategy department you’ll assist with building modelling tools to help develop the future transport network in Greater Manchester.
TfGM oversees transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone. This is a busy and exciting time for us with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse as transport plays a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.
TfGM’s Transport Strategy function is continuing to expand its Modelling & Appraisal team as part of an ambitious and wide-ranging work programme with aspirations to offer genuine sustainable transport choices to residents and visitors to the region. We are actively engaged with providing key evidence to support Greater Manchester’s Spatial Framework and the development of Our Network, which are fundamental to influencing future transport infrastructure and services in Greater Manchester.
In this role you will help create and maintain the suite of transport models at TfGM that assist in predicting the changing nature of transport and travel, and the appraisal of potential solutions. As part of the Modelling & Analysis team, you will work with colleagues throughout all aspects of transport planning within TfGM and alongside external partners.
For the role of Senior Transport Planner, you will have experience of transport modelling highways and / or public transport, and we expect both you and the role to grow. You will have a broad experience of analysis techniques and be comfortable with handling large data sets. You will also have the skills to communicate modelling outputs to varied audiences through written reports, verbally and through presentations.
The salary range for this role is £33,965 - £45,646 per annum. Salary on appointment within the salary range will be dependent upon your skills and experience.
