An opportunity is available for a Head of Appraisal and Model Development role. The post includes responsibility for transport modelling and forecasting in Transport Scotland, with strong emphasis on data and evidence to support this. Transport Scotland are pioneering scenario planning tools for use in our National Transport Strategy and Strategic Transport Projects review, this role will involve ensuring TS are at the forefront of innovation in the development and application of transport planning modelling and forecasting tools. 

In light of the Covid19 pandemic, the newly formed Transport Strategy and Analysis Directorate has focussed on supporting Ministers on resulting demand for travel and the transport impacts of the phased transition out of lockdown. The level of uncertainty of travel demand and the challenges to the economy, combined with the need to refocus resources, means there will a fresh look at transport investment through a new lense. This role will provide expertise in the development of transport modelling and appraisal guidance.

The current salary range for this role is £48,930 – £61,006 (pro rata for part time). The role also currently attracts an annual pay supplement of £3,000 (pro rata for part time). Supplements are subject to regular review.
