North Hertfordshire District Council is looking to appoint a new Parking Project Officer to join our Strategic Infrastructure and Projects Team.

North Hertfordshire is a large rural district with four historic towns, Hitchin, Baldock, Royston and Letchworth Garden City, located less than 40 miles north of London. North Hertfordshire is an exciting place to live and work. Promoting sustainable growth, together with balancing increasing parking pressures and seeking to implement innovative parking technologies are important considerations for the Council.

We are looking for a forward-thinking and enthusiastic Parking Project Officer to work together with the Transport Officer and Parking Enforcement Manager in progressing and implementing initiatives set out in the Council’s Parking Strategy. You will have a clear understanding of relevant parking policy and controls. There will be opportunities to represent the Council’s interests in local parking matters, including providing policy and technical advice on traffic regulation orders, planning matters involving parking standards and other initiatives associated with new developments and town centres, such as electric vehicles and alternative payment technologies for on and off street parking.

We are looking for an individual who can take on a demanding and varied workload. Detailed knowledge and understanding of national legislation and regulations in relation to parking is essential.  Applicants with experience and understanding in implementing parking restrictions, undertaking public consultation, and experience in partnership working and co-ordinating projects are particularly sought.

You will be educated to degree standard or have equivalent experience in a relevant transport discipline.  You will need to be well organised with proven verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.  You should also possess initiative and good interpersonal skills and be familiar with IT including GIS or similar technical drawing software.

We can offer you an excellent benefits package including professional fees, a pension scheme, generous leave allowance, homeworking, flexi-time, leisure concessions and more.
