Transport for the North (TfN) has been formed as part of the strategic response to the changing transport and infrastructure needs of the whole of the North of England. It incorporates the city regions of Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield connecting these cities and the wider regional towns and cities across the North of England, to drive better connectivity, economic growth and better opportunity for all. It is crystal clear that “the cities of the North together can be greater than the sum of their parts”.
Devolving strategic transport planning powers through STBs via this amendment to the Bill demonstrates the Government’s clear commitment to the Northern Powerhouse and rebalancing the economy outside of London. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), on behalf of TfN, is looking to recruit the following role: The role: The Programme Manager will support the delivery of the Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) projects and programmes ensuring on-going delivery to time, budget and quality standards in compliance within agreed project management standards and procedures. This role will also involve establishing effective working arrangements with multiple internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance on the development and delivery of programme.
What we’re looking for: The successful candidate will have a proven track record and experience of successfully managing rail related projects and programmes and extensive experience of managing budgets and effectively applying key commercial, business and other management processes. Proven experience of managing consultants and other contributors to strategic development programmes as well as co-ordinating and supervising multiple programmes of work are essential. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are also required along with the ability to balance the needs of stakeholders.
