The main purpose of the role will be:

Principle function of the role is to research new business opportunities across the North East and Yorkshire region
'New business’ is classed as revenue and profit enhancing business outside of the normal budgeted service networks. This may consist of rail replacement contracts, ad-hoc transport for events, Tyne & Wear Metro Replacement etc
Working with local managers/Area Manging Directors and Commercial/Network Managers to follow-up on leads for new business and funding opportunities from serving new developments
Managing work streams through from concept stage to implementation, including coordination of resources (vehicles, drivers etc) for additional business activities
Individual needs to be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative, whilst reporting to the Regional Head of Commercial

Direct responsibilities:
Source and implement new, ad-hoc profit enhancing revenue streams.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

Knowledge of public transport industry.
Requires self-motivation, whilst having the attributes to work closely with other key colleagues.
Knowledge of basic IT systems and ability to present ideas for consideration using Microsoft applications.
The role will require a flexible approach to working hours as there will be some requirement to attend meetings and events outside of normal office hours.
Communication style and ability to liaise confidently with potential customers and other stakeholders is key.

Success criteria and indicators:
Generation of profit enhancing new revenue streams and growing revenues from existing ad-hoc incomes.

Stakeholder relationships
Working closely with key colleagues.
Forging close relationships with other key stakeholders, such as events organisers, local authorities and developers, or their representatives.
