Make a difference, every day.

This is an engineering role like no other. At NHS Blood and Transplant, the work we do is a true team effort, because our frontline Nurses and Surgeons can’t perform their duties without the backing of our incredible support service. And as a member of our highly valued Fleet team, you’ll be at the heart of these nationally important activities.

The impact you’ll have
Taking responsibility for the technical maintenance of a fleet of around 330 vehicles, you’ll help us deliver a high-performing field service. Travelling to wherever you’re needed, you’ll see to it that we’re complying with the relevant licensing requirements and legislation, and you’ll flag up any contentious fleet and driver issues before they have an impact on our exceptional team. You’ll have a range of responsibilities, including the administration of vehicle maintenance contracts, the provision of technical and legal advice on a range of fleet and transport operational matter and establishing and delivering appropriate Service Level Agreements. You’ll also be required to travel extensively throughout the UK as you manage any field-related maintenance issues that arise.

The skills you’ll need
•    As a qualified vehicle engineer (with membership of a professional motor industry body), you'll have previous transport management experience, with a background in working in a fast-paced workshop environment. You will also hold a transport CPC or equivalent.
•    An excellent knowledge of transport legislation and experience in operating computerised fleet management systems.
•    A can-do attitude, with the capacity to manage your own workload and work effectively under pressure. You will also enjoy taking management responsibilities when necessary.
•    A customer-focused approach to all that to you do, with great communication and interpersonal skills.
