About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Transport Strategy Officer to join our Transport Strategy team, working within the Growth, Strategy and Highways directorate. You will provide the ideas, skills and creativity to deliver the transport strategies Buckinghamshire needs. Working with a wide range of stakeholders to understand our transport challenges and develop solutions to them.
As one of our senior officers, this role at the heart of the team. You’ll provide advice and guidance to management, elected members and customers. You’ll take responsibility for developing important policies, strategies, funding bids and other projects. This will give you the chance to lead colleagues, partners and other stakeholders – honing your leadership skills. As part of a diverse and creatively managed team, you’ll get the chance to do work that excites and stretches you.

It will be your job to provide the recommendations and guidance that will shape our transport services, policies and strategies. By undertaking research and talking to partners, you’ll amass the knowledge and insight we need to make big decisions. As this is a senior role, we’ll also look to you to assess and evaluate complex information and situations, to help us meet our objectives.
It’s the sort of knowledge you might have gained while working in a previous transport planning or policy role. In addition to studies (in a relevant technical subject), you’ll have developed polished communication skills, political awareness and a good grasp of the factors influencing travel behaviour. Exactly what you need to create effective policies and strategies.
We need passionate and experienced people, who want to help shape the future. You’re quick to understand, curious, keen to explore new challenges and communicate complex information with ease. You’ll be experienced in managing a complicated workload independently to deliver great results. Experience working with consultants and leading stakeholders would be helpful.
