Transport for the North

Northern Powerhouse Rail Director (Fixed Term Contract until March 2020) - c£100,000

Transport for the North (TfN) has been formed as part of the strategic response to the changing transport and infrastructure needs of the whole of the North of England. It incorporates the city regions of Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield with a vison to better connect these cities and wider regional towns and cities, to drive better connectivity, economic growth and better opportunity for all. It is crystal clear that connecting the North can ensure that the region is greater than the sum of their parts.

This is a new and critical leadership position.  Working with key partners, the Department for Transport, Network Rail and HS2 Ltd, you will take charge of the rail infrastructure and its future investment across the North of England.  With a track record of leading complex transport infrastructure projects you will be responsible for a £15bn Northern Powerhouse Rail Programme and aligning it to the wider Northern Transport Strategy.  Critical to the role will be your strategic leadership and your ability to set the vision, to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and to act as our “Intelligent Client” to ensure rail services meet the needs of our users.

This is an exciting time to join an emerging organisation that will shape the future of Transport in the North of England.  For further information about this unique opportunity please visit www.leadingnortherntransport.com  or call Pete John (0113 205 6075) or Gary Evans (0113 205 6080) of GatenbySanderson.

The closing date for this role is 26 September 2016.
