Rail Experience Manager - West Midlands Rail
£43,744 -£49,239 per annum
36.5 hours per week, permanent contract

Location: Primary base is Birmingham, but post holder is expected to work in locations across the West Midlands area as required

West Midlands Rail (WMR) is delivering local leadership for local rail services, working with the rail industry to deliver a step change in rail services across the region. It is driving investment, providing the capacity needed for the region’s growth in the future.

Rail matters in the West Midlands. It is vital that we have rail services across our region that are fit for the future and able to support our ambitious plans for growth and economic prosperity; helping commuters get to work, businesses and communities to connect with each other and welcoming visitors to the heart of the country.

In the past we haven’t had the influence we needed to make the right local decisions about local rail services. That’s changed now, with overall responsibility for the regional rail network moving from Whitehall to the West Midlands. Today WMR is providing the leadership and drive to shape better rail services for the future by working with government, train operators, rail regulators and other partners to deliver the improvements that West Midlanders want and need.

One of the improvements we are seeking is to create a consistently high standard of customer experience and service delivery across the rail network in the West Midlands, regardless of the identity of the service provider or geographical location. Ultimately, the ambition is for the West Midlands to be recognised as the country’s best region for rail, characterised by an easy to understand and resilient network, widespread innovation, and collaborative working. We call this our “Single Network Vision”, and this advert is seeking an excellent communicator who can take the lead in ensuring its delivery.

The role requires an individual with a strong customer focus, capable of inspiring change in others. The successful applicant will have a strong record in building positive relationships with a variety of different organisations and individuals, and will have extensive experience of influencing and persuading others. Although experience of the rail industry is not essential, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have achieved successful outcomes in complex business environments.
