Closing Date - 11th November 2018

Overview
Buckinghamshire County Council has an exciting opportunity for a Freight Transport Strategy Officer to join our Transport Strategy Team.

About us
Buckinghamshire faces an extraordinary combination of high levels of housing growth, combined with the imminent impact of mega projects such as High Speed 2, Heathrow Expansion and East-West Rail.

Freight plays a key role within this picture, supporting local businesses and individual customers, and delivering materials to development sites across the county. Wider changes in consumer behaviour, increases in online retailing and the rapid growth of emerging technologies are also reshaping the goods that we need and how they are being moved around the county.

Against this backdrop, effective management of freight through and around Buckinghamshire is vital to maximising economic and quality-of-life benefits whilst minimising adverse environmental and place-based impacts.

About the role
You will lead on driving forward implementation of the recently adopted Freight Strategy within Buckinghamshire, developing lasting partnerships which bring together private and public sector partners with local communities around the county.

In consultation with senior councillors and officers, you will assist in managing an allocated freight capital budget and determining spending priorities to offset the adverse impacts of increased freight in the county, including physical schemes, behaviour change programmes and technological innovations.

Your specialist advice and guidance will be crucial in influencing the shape of sustainable growth in Buckinghamshire over the coming years.
