Northern Powerhouse Rail is a transformational rail programme to better connect the key economic areas and cities of the North. Delivered over 30 years and combining new, existing, and already planned lines, the programme will improve east-west connections, offering a radical change in journey times, reliability, frequency and capacity.

Transport for the North, is looking to recruit the following role:

Effective management, and continuous monitoring of the identified initiatives, is a key part of this role. In doing so, the ideal candidate will ensure satisfactory progress and consistent delivery of projects aligned to the agreed funding, outputs and timescales for those projects, whilst working closely with the NPR stakeholder management workstream to proactively manage stakeholder needs and expectations. Additionally, you will need to foster close working relationships with our modelling, business case, and commercial teams to ensure alignment with wider programme objectives. Projects you are likely to manage include developing designs for future infrastructure projects, as well as onsite investigations into ground conditions.

What we’re looking for:
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent or possess an equivalent professional qualification.

You will have demonstrable post qualification experience in successful management of projects and programmes, preferably relating to railway infrastructure. Reporting to the senior project manager, you will have a strong ability to compile clear and concise technical and non-technical reports for a range of political, professional, and lay-person audiences. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the delivery of both in-house and external teams. Proven experience of successful partnership working with a range of third parties as well as maintaining good communication and building/managing relationships with stakeholders is key.

Knowledge and experience in the transport industry is desirable, and as you will be exposed to budget management, you must also possess a level financial awareness and previous knowledge of cost control.
